It was the bomb
Decided to grab the VIP package for the Beck/Sacramento Kings concert, which included the Jeff Beck sound check. Got to Sandia Casino at the appointed time, picked up the tickets, and received a briefing on the expectations for the sound check.
At the appointed time, walked over and joined about 80 others for an hour of the sound check. I was impressed by the equipment readiness and the band's exclusive performance during the sound check. We got a sneak peek of some concert tunes and a bit of banter from Jeff Beck.
After the sound check, we had some free time. Grabbed a bite to eat and missed the opening act. Jeff Beck's performance was spectacular, despite being bothered by a blister during the latter part of the show. The band was solid, although introductions were hard to hear. The collaboration with the singer and harmonica player was commendable. They played for just over an hour without an encore.
Sacramento Kings, known for being a hit machine, played continuously with a running video that was sometimes distracting. They covered all their hits, and Jeff Beck joined them for the last three songs. Although his initial role seemed uneventful, he shined on the final two tunes.
Overall, no one left the concert feeling shortchanged. It was a fantastic show.
